I am a fan of color blocked dresses as well as dresses with ethnic prints. This dress by Maggy London seems to capture a hint of both styles, so it was love at first sight when I saw it in Marshalls earlier this year. The shoes are by Nine West and have a very interesting and uniquely shaped heel. I snatched them off the clearance rack from Macy’s last year.

Since I wear my pair of prescription eyeglasses all the time, I consider them as the most important accessory I own. Hence, it is very important that I wear glasses that I actually love; a pair that reflects my taste of style. If you wear prescription glasses, I am sure you know that a very good pair of frames is quite pricey. It may seem expensive at first, but it actually turns out to be an excellent investment once you consider other factors such as the number of wears, effect on appearance and level of comfort. Think about it, you will probably wear them every day for several years, so if you distribute the cost over the entire period of use, it’s really not that bad. That is why I put preference first when selecting my frames. This is one of the few areas where I completely disregard my bargaining principle :).

My eyes have gotten very sensitive to the sun, so I decided to get a new pair with Marc Jacobs frames and transitions (Photochromic) lenses even though I have had my other pair for just a few months. I am very thankful I ended up getting these as a present, so I got to keep my keep my other pair intact, instead of using their frames on the new lenses. These lenses are so cool; they are clear indoors and they darken outdoors upon exposure to the sun.

I love both pairs. The purple frames are by Michael Kors; I am a big fan of his designs and these suit my face well. The new brown frames are by Marc Jacobs. I own a pair of sunglasses by him that I really love, so that inspired me to try several of his designs and I fell in love with these.

The dress is my first purchase from Athropoligie; I recently got it off their clearance rack for $29, down from over $100.

Hope you are having a great week. Thanks for visiting!

In my hometown, mangoes are everywhere; almost every house has at least one tree in the backyard, so I grew up eating them a lot. I am so happy these succulent fruits are back in season; this is the time of the year when they taste like flavored nectar 🙂

Anyways, it was by mere coincidence that I picked a slice that matched my sunflower slip-on tunic during photo-shoot. I love this dress; the shade of yellow is just perfect for the summer. It’s bright enough to exude a zest of energy that could more effective than Red Bull. This is my first yellow dress and I got it last year from New York & Company during their semi-annual sale. Though I still love this dress, I am quite disappointed that I can’t wear it to the office anymore; it has shrunk by several inches. It keeps getting shorter by every wash. I tried hand washing and line drying, but it didn’t help, so I have made this my weekend to-go dress. It’s so comfortable and simple, yet screams out loud!

I love the Zebra print tote and the sandals, both by Michael Kors, they are perfect for a laid back casual look. I got these last year as well and I still look forward to many- many wears.

PS, did you notice I am wearing a blingy rock? It’s a sign I am in a happy mood 🙂

Hope you are having a great weekend. Thanks for visiting!

I cannot think of anything that beats food in bringing people together. Cooking for friends and catering for social events is one thing I enjoy doing the most. I love seeing people having fun, networking and engaging in great conversations. I started cooking at school events when I was in primary school, and went on to study Food and Nutrition and continued to cater at events in High School. In college, I continued cooking for small gatherings and my passion for food is still glowing. It is my dream to take this hobby to greater heights.

This weekend, my roommate and I hosted a social dinner for friends on Saturday.  We started cooking in the afternoon and finished around 8pm. It was a lot of work and fun.  Here are a few pictures of us in action.  I have also included a picture of the dress I wore after the action 🙂
